Elton John - Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters  (To Be Continued...")

Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
Available on the album Honky Ch鈚eau

And now I know
Spanish Harlem are not just pretty words to say
I thought I knew
But now I know that rose trees never grow in New York City

Until you've seen this trash can dream come true
You stand at the edge while people run you through
And I thank the Lord there's people out there like you
I thank the Lord there's people out there like you

While Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters
Sons of bankers, sons of lawyers
Turn around and say good morning to the night
For unless they see the sky
But they can't and that is why
They know not if it's dark outside or light

This Broadway's got
It's got a lot of songs to sing
If I knew the tunes I might join in
I'll go my way alone
Grow my own, my own seeds shall be sown in New York City

Subway's no way for a good man to go down
Rich man can ride and the hobo he can drown
And I thank the Lord for the people I have found
I thank the Lord for the people I have found

Pozostale piosenki artysty Elton John (910):
A Step Too Far
Amneris Letter
Elaborate Lives
Enchantment Passing Through
How I Know You

My first cousin and her husband gave me and my 2 bros and sister this album for Christmas one year. Soon after she lost her battle with cancer and died. She was so beautiful. Thanks for posting the album cover. It made me think of her again. RIP Connie McPeters Odom!

Have you heard Tumbleweed Connection? I believe it is better than this album, but this is his 2nd best. All the songs on both albums are great. He is one hell of a pianist, saw him in concert in '89 & he did alot of his old music. It was one of the best concerts I've been to, and I've seen alot of the greats live on stage! Saw the Stones 2 days after Elton in '89. It was 3 days of greatness! And it rained at the Stone's Steel Wheels Concert. Froze to death, but Elton was better.
